A prepress department is only as good as its people. a qualified staff to receive and process files, and answer your questions 24/7. And we make house calls! We have a dedicated Prepress Quality Manager who will come to your offices to calibrate your monitors to our proofing system, and instruct your staff in how to get better color reproduction and halftones when creating clean, print-ready PDF files.

We maintain a state-of-the-art prepress facility to digitally generate press-ready printing plates from your print-ready PDF files. InSite Soft Proofing makes approvals fast and economical while KODAK Prinergy streamlines the process of sending files that match the soft proofs to our CREO digital direct-to-plate devices, and generating a file for the EPG Inking Controls. The EPG Controls match ink fountain settings on press, to the proof, resulting in accurate proofs and final product consistentcy.

Media Acceptance
We maintain a secure File Transfer Protocol (FTP) site via the internet for fast, easy acceptance to your print-ready PDF files. Contact our Prepress Department 24/7 for your unique username and password at 215-724-1700 x146. CDs, DVDs, External Hard Drives are all supported here. Click here to visit our FTP site.

Prepress File Specifications & Requirements
In order to meet the critical schedules for printing and delivery of your publications, we ask that you follow these format requirements on every job submitted to Bartash. If you have any questions or require assistance, please remember:

File format requirements:

• We accept PDF files - For best results, we recomend PDF 1.3 (with transparencies flattened) generated through native Adobe Acrobat Distiller.
Acrobat 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, and 8.0 are supported.
• We do not accept native application files.
  (i.e., Quark, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, PageMaker, Freehand, etc.)
• PDF's that are printing as 4 colors must be setup as 4 color process.
• Spot colors must be specified consistently in your file as cyan or magenta. Consult our prepress experts to assure they are set-up correctly. Specify the correct color ink to be printed, on your order form.
• We are not responsible for color shifts in the final printing, due to the following:
  RGB images, ICC Profiling, and Index Colors
• For best quality reproduction, 4/color process and grayscale images should be 300dpi. Monochrome images should be 1200dpi.
• Do not included OPI images.
• Do not include ICC profiles.
• Embed all fonts.
• Required changes will require new client-supplied corrected PDFs.

Note: Changes could jeopardize the final print & delivery dates.

PDF size requirements:

• Non-Bleed PDF page file size requirements;
• A .25" non-print border area is required within the final trim area.
  i.e., Final Trim: 8.25" x 10.75" ;
  Image Area: 7.75" x 10" centered
  PDF page size: 8.5" x 11" no crop marks
