Amira's PlaceAmira's Place
Founded by Dr. Kara Nakisbendi in 2005, this nonprofit provides young women with a "safe haven" where they can interact with peers and adult mentors and openly discuss issues of concern. In such an environment, young women can craft a more positive self-image and avoid falling into the perils and pitfalls that threaten every teenager.

Amira's PlaceMighty Writers
Bartash recognizes the need to foster a new generation of readers and writers for the betterment of our society, nation, local community. The future of our industry depends on it. As part of our Bartash Reads program, we are proud to support Mighty Writers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit designed to awaken school-age city kids to the wonders of writing. Volunteer tutors work with enrolled students in one-to-one and collaborative settings. Kids who come to Mighty Writers quickly discover that writing well requires responsibility, accountability and patience; and getting it right brings affirmation and moves you toward your goals. Programs are imaginative and fun, committed to critical and creative thinking; to the value in working collaboratively and the importance of communicating clearly and effectively. Their guiding principle: success is best achieved with clarity of thought—and there is no better route to success than being able to express oneself through words.
