Bartash Reads Program

We believe that the future of our industry and the health of our nation depends on a literate and informed society. And that all begins with teaching our children to read, and getting them in the habit of reading at an early age.

That's why Bartash has developed a program designed to encourage area students to read, and to assist them in developing their reading skills. It's called "Bartash Reads". We print various publications that contain articles and activities for children, such as, crossword puzzles, word searches, pictures to color, etc. Likewise, these same publications contain a multitude of tips and articles for parents on health issues, nutrition, parenting and education. They also carry children's movie reviews and a host of other interesting features aimed at children and their families.

All of the clients who publish appropriate material for this project believed the project to be worthy and agreed to participate by allowing Bartash to produce and distribute extra copies of their publications in our community. Often the advertising in the publications is geared toward the clients' readership and the area where their product is circulated, but the information and literature contained within the publication is universal to kids and parents everywhere.

We print extra copies of these publications to share with the schools. Bartash absorbs the cost of each overrun, and delivers the different publications to the schools (public, charter, private and parochial) in the area, where they’re distributed in the classroom or sent home to the parents.

Bartash Reads

As part of Bartash Reads, we support Mighty Writers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit designed to awaken school-age city kids to the wonders of writing. We believe that fostering a new generation of readers and writers is necessary for the future of our industry, and leads to a healthier society, nation, and community. All-volunteer tutors work with enrolled students in one-to-one and collaborative settings. Mighty Writers helps kids discover that writing well requires responsibility, accountability and patience; and getting it right, brings affirmation and success. Bartash prints a special-edition newspaper so kids in the program can see their efforts come to life in print. Besides the copies that Mighty Writers uses and distributes, Bartash distributes copies to the local schools in the Bartash Reads program.
